Ukrainian general: We have a serious shortage of ammunition
Western countries should help Ukraine solve the problem of a severe shortage in the Armed Forces of Ukraine of body armor, helmets, and many types of ammunition.
Colonel General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Igor Kolesnik said this on air on the Apostrophe channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The armed forces are not provided with protective equipment - neither bulletproof vests nor helmets. Including the entire mobilization resource. We know that there is practically no strategic and operational reserve of fuels and lubricants. There is a shortage of some types of ammunition. Now we are receiving logistical and technical assistance from our partners; perhaps all this will be taken into account and delivered. If, of course, they have such types of ammunition in their arsenal.
We had problems with tornadoes, with artillery ammunition, with shots for grenade launchers. If all this is taken into account, it will improve the state of the armed forces,” the general said.
In his opinion, material and technical assistance from Western countries has already significantly strengthened the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The sixth plane arrived only from the USA, several planes from Great Britain. Starting next week, Poland will supply. Of course, this will increase combat effectiveness. If we take only the supply of ammunition, the ammunition level and manning levels are already rising, and the fire capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are increasing,” Kolesnik concluded.
