Ukrainian Prosecutor General promised not to extradite Kolomoisky to the United States
Ukraine will not extradite oligarch Igor Kolomoisky to requests for extradition from other countries, since he is a citizen of Ukraine, and Ukrainian legislation prohibits the extradition of its citizens, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka said this when answering the question of how Ukraine would react if there were international orders to extradite Kolomoisky, for example, to the United States, Ukrinform reports.
“To be honest, I exclude the possibility of extraditing a Ukrainian citizen to another country, because the Constitution prohibits the extradition of Ukrainian citizens to other states. It doesn’t depend on whether it’s Kolomoisky or any other person,” Ryaboshapka said.
When asked by journalists that Kolomoisky is a citizen not only of Ukraine, the Prosecutor General clarified that Ukraine recognizes him as its citizen, “regardless of whether he has two or three passports from other countries.”
