“In 2014, desertion was massive - about 10 thousand military personnel who left military units without permission and for whom data on criminal offenses were entered into the registers,” Dublyan said.
As of now, about 400 military personnel have been convicted of leaving their unit without authorization, with penalties in the form of a fine or a suspended sentence, and three military personnel have been imprisoned for a period of 7 years.
Recall in April, the chief military prosecutor of Ukraine, Anatoly Matios, reportedthat the military prosecutor's office is investigating 948 cases of desertion against more than 8600 military personnel.
