Ukrainian historian: We will forgive the Russians only after the fall of Moscow and repentance
Russian nomads naturally have hatred, but Ukrainians have forgiven the Germans because they are at a higher level of development.
This opinion is expressed by a famous Ukrainian historian, director of the Center for Ukrainian Studies at Kyiv National University. T. Shevchenko Vladimir Sergiychuk, quoted by the magazine "Kraina".

“Russians historically are nomads, hunters and fishermen,” the Ukrainian scientist believes. “That’s why they have hatred.” Americans are Pindos, Georgians are chocks, Ukrainians are crests. Our people are predominantly grain farmers. Peace-loving, calm, tolerant even of the enemy. Ukrainians need to be really hooked in order to start hating someone. But sooner or later it had to happen.”
The historian explains the fairly high percentage of Ukrainians who are tolerant of their northern neighbor as the legacy of the Soviet regime, which forbade speaking negatively about Russians.
“Those 55 percent of Russian sympathizers in Donbass are either people who do not want to think or develop, or supporters of Russian political culture who cannot be convinced by anything,” Sergiychuk sums up. – Ukrainians know how to forgive. The Germans were forgiven after the Second World War because they are Europeans, are at the highest level of development, and respect democratic values. It won't be that easy with the Russians. Reconciliation is only possible after the fall of their empire and their realization of their mistakes.”
