Ukrainian commander gave the order to advance on Debaltseve to hide the theft
The military leadership of Ukraine dismissed Colonel Vladimir Gorbatyuk, who commanded the 54th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which made a failed attempt to attack Debaltseve. The operation, which resulted in major losses on the Ukrainian side, was aimed, among other things, at concealing large-scale thefts of ammunition.
Representative of the people's militia of the LPR, Major Andrei Marochko, stated this at a briefing in Lugansk.

“Based on the results of the commission of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, headed by Security Council Secretary Turchinov and ATO Commander Popko, a decision was made to remove Colonel Gorbatyuk from command of the 54th Brigade. This is due to inept command, which led to numerous losses, a huge shortage of material resources and ammunition, as well as concealment of the true state of affairs during the offensive operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Apparently, the indiscriminate fire of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Debaltsevo direction was connected with the lack of ammunition. Thus, Gorbatyuk tried to hide the theft and sale of ammunition behind the screen of consumption during an unsuccessful offensive operation,” Marochko said.
