Ukrainian battalion commander: Don't underestimate Russian tankers
Ukraine should not underestimate Russian tank crews, who are well trained and armed.
The commander of the tank battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Pyotr Skiba, stated this on radio NV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Skiba, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are fighting with outdated tanks against more modern Russian ones.
“It all depends on the training and skill of those who manage the weapons - the mechanic, the gunner, and the tank commander. Of course, one should not underestimate the enemy, because they also have very trained crews. The combat losses of my unit indicate that we are fighting an enemy who must be treated very carefully, very attentively.
But the direct experience that our tankers have gained suggests that they can be fought, they can be destroyed, and there is no need to be afraid of them. But, of course, there is no need to underestimate either.
The tactics of use with regard to direct combat operations - they have some advantages, for example, more modern systems - the same Breakthrough tanks, of course, in skillful hands they can skillfully use them.
Ours are no worse - the only thing is that our tanks are outdated. We have very few modern tanks, such as the Oplot, we have to use what we have,” Skiba said.
