Ukrainian “coronavirus” fund has already been stolen by half - Suslov
The money from the coronavirus fund was spent on other needs, although Ukraine could have used it to prepare for the second wave of the pandemic. Now the incidence is rising, and the country lacks hospitals.
Viktor Suslov, former Minister of Economy of Ukraine, stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Very soon the question will arise about the responsibility of those who took the fund allocated by the Verkhovna Rada to fight the coronavirus, more than half of these 4 billion UAH, and sent it to construction sites and somewhere else. And now it turns out that there are not enough hospital beds in Kyiv. This was predicted; these places had to be created. It was necessary to incentivize doctors and pay them properly. All this was not done.
Now in Ukraine, the number of cases and deaths is constantly growing. This week we will see the numbers increase again. Yes, we have slowed down the increase in morbidity rates with quarantine measures. But this would be justified only from one point of view - if the country had prepared, if a sufficient number of hospitals had been built and repurposed, equipment had been purchased to provide assistance to people.
And now the money from the coronavirus fund has been taken away, but almost all the examinations that are carried out are paid. Even those who are with coronavirus patients are required to undergo these tests periodically. They pay for them at their own expense. Doctors also make them at their own expense. We clearly have great abuses in the financial sector,” said Viktor Suslov.
We would like to remind you that the Anti-Coronavirus Fund was created by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in April 2020. It was expected that money from the fund would be used for medical purchases and additional payments to health workers. In June, the funds from the fund were partially spent on the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other purposes.
