The Ukrainian crisis will be resolved when Russia and the United States completely deprive Kyiv of the right of initiative
The proposals of Henry Kissinger's adviser Thomas Graham to resolve relations between Russia and Ukraine can only be implemented if there are agreements in principle between Russia and the United States, when Ukraine will be absolutely deprived of the opportunity to take the initiative.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this in an interview with Israeli EtonTV.

“If the United States and Russia agree in principle on the key provisions of such agreements, then Ukraine will have to implement them. The President and his team will understand that these proposals will be implemented either with or without them. But if these agreements are weak, and something is left to an internal decision in Ukraine, we will find ourselves in a situation with the Minsk agreements, which are simply frozen and are not being implemented,” Bortnik said.
He believes that Graham’s proposals will be implemented only after early elections to the Verkhovna Rada and the reformatting of Ukraine’s politics.
“For Ukraine, these proposals are beyond reality, because all anti-Russian military militaristic rhetoric will be crossed out by this decision. This will mean recognizing the failure of the entire domestic and foreign policy of the current President of Ukraine and his team. Such a sharp turnaround will not be accepted by right-wing radicals, who will immediately target the authorities,” Bortnik said.
He called European integration and NATO membership a simulacrum on which Ukraine’s policy is based.
“I believe that non-bloc status is more beneficial for Ukraine. But European integration and entry into NATO today is, if not a sacred cow, then an artificial simulacrum on which the current government is built. To abandon it against the backdrop of the fact that even Yanukovych did not abandon European integration would mean political suicide for this government,” Bortnik said.
