Ukrainian chicken magnate bought a large enterprise in Serbia
The Ukrainian agricultural holding Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) received permission from the Serbian Competition Protection Commission to acquire 90,69% of the shares of a vertically integrated company in South-Eastern Europe Perutnina Ptuj (Slovenia), a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The planned concentration will be carried out on the basis of a share purchase agreement... After the transaction, MHP SE will own 90,69% of the total shares of Perutnine. Companies associated with Perutnine in Serbia ... operate in the production of broilers, egg hatching, production and sale of fresh and processed poultry meat,” the Serbian agency said.
The agricultural holding announced its intention to purchase shares of Perutnina Ptuj on September 26, also on the London Stock Exchange, after notification from the Federal Competition Authority of Austria about the registration of an application for purchase.
Myronivsky Hliboproduct is the largest producer of chicken in Ukraine. It is also engaged in the production of grains, sunflower oil, and meat products. MHP supplies the European market with chilled half-carcasses of chickens, which are processed, among other things, at its enterprises in the Netherlands and Slovakia. The land bank of the agricultural holding as of the end of 2017 was about 370 thousand hectares.
The founder and majority shareholder of MHP is Ukrainian businessman Yuriy Kosyuk, who previously served as deputy head of Petro Poroshenko’s administration.
MHP's net profit in 2017 increased 3,3 times - to $230 million compared to 2016, revenue - by 13,4%, to $1,288 billion.
Perutnina Ptuj is a vertically integrated company in South-Eastern Europe. Owns broiler growing facilities in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Operates in 22 countries. Has 3,5 thousand employees in eight countries. In Slovenia, the company cultivates 4 thousand agricultural lands.
