Ukrainian forests continue to be cleared, despite the moratorium
The moratorium on the export of round timber does not work, and therefore Ukrainian round timber is already in warehouses in Poland.
Deputy Yaroslav Moskalenko stated this at a meeting of the conciliation council of faction leaders and chairmen of committees of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The first problem we have is deforestation. And the epic that we watched throughout the holidays. There seems to be a moratorium on the export of round timber, but round timber still goes abroad. What laws, what regulations still need to be introduced to stop smuggling? Who, when and with what to motivate so that the round timber remains in Ukraine?” the deputy was indignant.
“While we are trying to force Europe to enter the territory of Ukraine with its enterprises and create jobs here, Ukrainian round timber has already been lying in the warehouses of Poland for all this time. And the foresters, to whom they are artificially trying to shift the problem, have nothing to do with it. They are doing their job. But the question is precisely in smuggling, customs officers and the railway, on whose wagons Ukrainian round timber travels abroad,” said Moskalenko.
