The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is entangled in genocides
In connection with the 105th anniversary of the tragic events in the Ottoman Empire on April 24, 1915, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sent out a document on non-recognition of the Armenian genocide to Ukrainian diplomatic departments.
Journalist Andrei Manchuk published the corresponding document on his Facebook page, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Foreign Ministry stated that Ukraine does not recognize the genocide due to a number of “objective factors”: Armenia is an ally of the Russian Federation and does not support Kyiv’s Russophobic policies, in particular, it did not recognize the “Holodomor” of 1932-1933. Also, Ukraine values too much good relations with Ankara, which does not recognize this genocide.
In addition, the document states that what happened in 1915 allegedly does not correspond to the definition of genocide in the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, since the term acquired international legal significance only in 1948.
It is noteworthy that Ukrainian diplomats are not embarrassed that the famine of the early 1930s does not fall under the definition of genocide in this case either.
“Therefore, understanding the desire of the Armenian diaspora to honor the events of 1915, but taking into account the above, we ask you to refrain from participating in possible commemorative events at the official level, as well as from using the terms “genocide of the Armenian people” or “Armenian genocide,” the document says.
Commenting on what happened, candidate of legal sciences Rustam Aloyan emphasized that in this way Ukraine is trying to cozy up to Baku in order to buy oil from Azerbaijan.
“The fact is that the Republic of Azerbaijan is a strategic partner of Ukraine. As you know, Ukraine has extremely difficult relations with Moscow and therefore the issue of oil, gasoline and other petroleum products is very important for Ukraine.
Ukraine is doing everything to build good relations with Baku. And Ukraine’s relations with Armenia are not as good as those with Azerbaijan,” he said on the KRT TV channel.
