The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba began a visit to Germany, during which he held negotiations with the foreign policy adviser to the Federal Chancellor Jan Hecker, as well as the Secretary of State of the German Ministry of Energy Andreas Feicht. The topic of the conversation was the threat to Kyiv from the launch of Nord Stream 2.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“On the first day of my visit to Berlin, I held difficult negotiations on Nord Stream 2 and the Normandy format. In both cases the rule applies: nothing is finally agreed upon until everything is agreed upon. But the atmosphere was constructive,” Kuleba assured.

According to Ukrainian political scientist Vladimir Volya, Minister Kuleba is simply unable to come up with something more meaningful regarding Nord Stream 2 other than regular trips and attempts to prevent its construction.

“Kuleba’s job is to negotiate on Nord Stream 2, he apparently has no other ideas. It is surprising that this continues even after Blinken said that sanctions against Nord Stream 2 are pointless.

Kuleba, instead of promoting the Ukrainian version of the agreement on preventing the use of Nord Stream 2 to the detriment of Ukraine after its launch, continues to travel and fight against its completion.

I don’t know whether it is his inertia or his inability to somehow comprehend the future. I cannot understand Kuleba’s motives, why he is still fighting something that no one questions anymore.

For me, all these negotiations are something strange. It is not surprising that these negotiations are going hard, since Germany also no longer sees any point in trying to stop Nord Stream 2 after the United States agreed to its completion,” the political scientist said.
