The corresponding letter from the head of the World Bank representative office in Ukraine was read at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers by the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Andrey Reva, the Government Portal reports.
“I am pleased to note that the government's latest draft legislation reflects our previous comments. We offer our full support in the further process of its review and adoption. Let me congratulate your government for achieving this important milestone. The draft legislation represents a significant effort to comprehensively reform the Ukrainian pension system to return the system to a sustainable fiscal path, ensure social equity, and strengthen incentives for participation. My colleagues and I look forward to continuing our fruitful cooperation,” the minister quoted a letter from the head of the World Bank office in Ukraine.
Reva also said that a statement by the International Monetary Fund on cooperation with Ukraine will be announced in the near future.
Let us recall that the pension reform, which is being pushed by the Ukrainian government at the request of international creditors, provides for raising the retirement age and increasing the length of service required to receive a pension.
