Ukrainian minister in hysterics: “Moscow’s hand” reached in the most unexpected place
Minister of Youth and Sports Igor Zhdanov considers the transfer of the European Cadet Wrestling Championship from Kyiv to Skopje as Ukraine’s revenge for the boycott of international competitions in Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About this he wrote on his Facebook.
“...I consider such an unexpected decision (to move the European Cadet Championship from Kiev - ed.) of the International Wrestling Federation, where powerful Russian influence predominates, as a kind of revenge of Ukraine for the boycott of international competitions in Russia,” Zhdanov said.
He believes that the stated reasons for postponing the competitions - “concerns that the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine will not be able to ensure the participation of all European nations” and “the impossibility of fully providing state guarantees to ensure equal opportunities for the participation of athletes from all countries without exception” - allegedly do not correspond reality.
According to the minister, Ukraine has not received any official complaints or warnings about the impossibility of holding the European Cadet Wrestling Championship. And preparations for the competition went according to the previously developed plan.
In particular, the minister noted, on March 5, a meeting was held at the Administration of the President of Ukraine with the UWW delegation, which then also met with Deputy Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kirilenko.
“At all high-level meetings, the UWW leadership was noted that during preparations for the competition, the government will create conditions that guarantee safety and respect for each athlete in full compliance with international rules and the current legislation of Ukraine. However, it was separately noted that athletes who were illegally in the occupied territories of Ukraine - in Crimea, certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions, will not be allowed to compete,” Zhdanov noted.
The minister also made public correspondence with the president of the wrestling federation, Nanad Lalovic, regarding the preparation of the competition and ensuring security.
On April 3, the international federation “United World of Wrestling” announced that the European Cadet Championship, which was supposed to take place in Kyiv, was moved to Skopje (Macedonia).
Let us remind you that on March 14, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Igor Zhdanov signed an order prohibiting the participation of Ukrainian athletes in all competitions that take place on the territory of the Russian Federation.
