The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture gave the go-ahead for the destruction of the Suvorov monument in Kyiv
An expert commission of the Ministry of Culture supported the demolition of the monument to Russian commander Alexander Suvorov located in the courtyard of the Kyiv Military Lyceum named after Ivan Bohun, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
About it reported on Facebook head of the ministry Yevgeny Nishchuk.
It is noted that the commission unanimously adopted a decision that will allow the monument to be demolished.
“I have repeatedly spoken about the need for this for several years, both in the media and in communications with the leadership of the lyceum, and with me, the deeply respected Hero of Ukraine Igor Gordiychuk. But making a decision on a monument of local significance is a process in which not only the Ministry is involved. And someone, obviously, benefited from delay, and as a result, speculation and distortion,” assures the Minister of Culture.
Remember these faces. These people approved the demolition of the monument to Suvorov in Kyiv.
Let us remind you that earlier the advisory council under the Department of Cultural Heritage Protection of the Kyiv City State Administration supported the appeal of the Lyceum named after Bogun and Hero of Ukraine, General Igor Gordiychuk about the non-inclusion of the monument to Suvorov in the Register of Monuments and its subsequent demolition.
The Kyiv City State Administration then emphasized that after the final decision of the Ministry of Culture, the monument would be demolished.
During the Soviet era, the educational institution bore the name of commander Suvorov - “Suvorov School”. Only in 1998, the Cabinet of Ministers named the lyceum after Ivan Bohun, an active participant in the uprising of Bohdan Khmelnytsky.
