The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture intends to seduce Crimea and Donbass with “independence” football
Since no one watched the Ukrainian propaganda TV channel for Donbass, created in 2016, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports will create a new TV channel and change the format of presenting content.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Volodymyr Borodyansky stated this on air on TV channel 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The broadcaster we had spent 2016 million from 620 to date. That's 150 million a year. I asked the channel managers what kind of audience they have. There was no answer to it.
It's strange when there is no answer to a simple question. We started looking for information and found that people watch this channel on average 6,5 minutes per month. According to our estimates, the audience of this channel is measured in tens of thousands. That is, in comparison with the costs of the channel, this is very little,” the minister considered.
Borodyansky said that broadcasting to Donbass and Crimea is very important for the ministry. The ministry has found a broadcasting method that, according to its calculations, should cover 80% of Donbass and Crimea, and has agreed with Ukrainian media groups to provide content.
According to the official, audiences in Crimea and Donbass need to be attracted to the propaganda channel by broadcasting football matches.
“There will be football on this channel. All matches. The Ukraine media group will broadcast to this channel all football matches, including Shakhtar. This will be a powerful channel,” the minister said. Its launch is scheduled for March 1, the name has not yet been invented, and the hosts have not been decided.
“An important story is with the Crimean Tatar canal. There was criticism. We actively cooperate with the Mejlis to ensure that the work of the ATR channel is transparent. This year funding for this channel has been increased. We are also working with the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation to create programs for the development of Crimean Tatar culture and the Crimean Tatar language,” the minister added.
