The Ukrainian Ministry of Justice wants to cancel all Soviet regulations in one fell swoop
Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko announced his intention to initiate changes to the law on decommunization, which will provide for the abolition of the normative acts adopted during the Soviet era.

He stated this during a press conference, Ukrinform reports.
“I will appeal to parliament to make appropriate changes to the law on decommunization and stipulate that all acts that were adopted on the basis of the Ukrainian SSR or the USSR cease to be valid,” he said.
Petrenko noted that today there is a norm that notes that in the legal field, normative acts that were adopted before 1991 are applied, which do not contradict the current legislation.
“But the creativity and talents of our bureaucrats are such that they manage to use old Soviet acts and say that they really do not contradict the legislation, but they certainly do not help the current legislation,” says the Minister of Justice.
