There is a chaos in the Ukrainian law enforcement agencies - most likely, the seizure of the Russian tanker was not coordinated with the military, despite the fact that the incident may have unpredictable consequences for Ukraine, which will be ensured by the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
Ukrainian military expert Oleg Starikov stated this on the Nash TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We don’t know how the other side will react. It’s good that she reacted this way, with statements from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. What if she went for a forceful takeover and began to fight off the ship, as she usually does? This requires naval cover, air cover, and ground cover. The General Staff must plan this. I am sure that the Chief of the General Staff was not even informed and his opinion was not asked, I am sure that the Chief of the General Staff would have said: “No, this cannot be done.”
The next question is how to react if the Russian Federation withdraws its cruiser “Moskva” and blocks the entrance to Izmail and Odessa, completely blocking our ports? Are we going to jump with our “Hetman Sagaidachny” and our mosquito fleet next to it?” - said Starikov.
Deputy Minister for “Occupied Territories” Yuriy Grymchak did not share the expert’s concerns.
“When the sailors were questioned and it turned out that they did not take part, they were immediately sent to Russia. Although, from the point of view of justice, they should have been detained, put in a pre-trial detention center and tried to exchange them for our people,” Grymchak said on the Pryamoy TV channel.
