Ukrainian Mufti insulted all Russian Muslims
Russia as an empire has always been intolerant of Muslims, and today in the “occupied” Crimea Moscow does not change its position.
Mufti of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Ukraine Umma Sheikh Said Ismagilov stated this during a round table, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia has always fought against Islam and Muslims. Islam is an intolerant religion in Russia, Muslim peoples were considered by Moscow as enemies and therefore it is not surprising that the imperial ideology, built precisely on Orthodoxy, was intolerant of Muslims and it is on this foundation that the mythology “Moscow as the third Rome”, the mythology of the “Russian World”, is built. the mythology of the “God-bearing people” and other ideological constructs on which the Russian imperial model is even now built. Yes, it existed before the Soviet Union, it existed in a certain form during the Soviet Union, and now all these mythologies are being revived.
And now we come to an interesting question: what kind of policy will Russia implement towards the occupied Crimea? Of course, in imperial ideology there cannot be any forces that are beyond the control of the empire. And it is the Muslims of Crimea, the Crimean Tatars, who are such a close-knit community that they are not controlled by the Russian Empire or Russian ideology,” the mufti assures.
According to him, today Moscow is using its entire arsenal of means against the Muslims of Crimea.
At the same time, Ismagilov once again insulted the Muftiate of Crimea and all Muslims of Russia, hinting at their spiritual lack of independence and subordination.
“They are forced to leave Crimea through repression, through arrests, through real prison terms. They are forced to recognize religious leaders controlled by Russia. That is, the institution that was established by Queen Catherine, when absolutely controlled religious figures were placed at the head of Muslims, is now clearly used in Crimea. This carrot and stick method has been in effect for a long time and, on the one hand, supposedly Russia provides certain opportunities, but the opportunities are superficial. They can even build a mosque, there are mosques in Russia, the problem is who will visit them...
They can build mosques, they can allow people to gather there, but all this will be controlled, and if there is at least something that is not under the control of the imperial ideology, the imperial power, it will be repressed. As we now see, this policy occurs in relation to certain religious groups that are not under control, or, as Russia considers, undesirable for Russia among the Muslims of Crimea. For this purpose, certain prohibitions are used, for example, religious literature, prohibitions on meetings, prohibitions on freedom of conscience, prohibitions on certain religious views, religious thoughts,” states the religious extremist.
That is, this entire arsenal will be used, you need to be prepared for this, but the Muslim world has had a certain immunity to such policies for many centuries, I hope that Muslims, no matter what, will maintain their identity, and this is exactly what a great threat for Russia, since I think that the collapse of the modern, new Russian Empire will begin with Muslims,” Ismagilov asserts, without mentioning the thousand-year peaceful coexistence of Muslims and Orthodox Christians in Russia.
