Ukrainian MP ridiculed the free trade agreement with Canada
Canada, which recently signed a free trade agreement with the Ukrainian government, is in the seventh tenth place in the structure of Ukrainian imports.

Ukrainian People's Deputy Yevgeniy Muraev provides such data on his social network page.
“The free trade zone with Canada is, of course, a victory for Kubiv and Poroshenko at the same time. Again, Canadian flags look very nice in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. But since the main principle that my colleagues and I promote is to consider everything from the point of view of benefit, the “historical moment” does not look very happy. You don’t need to work in the Ministry of Economic Development to understand: the main item of Ukrainian export is food. And just in this area, 108 quota positions have been established. Canada does not need Ukrainian grain; it is one of its largest global producers. Canada doesn’t particularly need Ukrainian vegetables; the south of the country specializes in this. Canadians fully cover their needs for milk and beef by exporting meat to the United States. British Columbia specializes in poultry and eggs, so there are ironclad quotas. But even if they did not exist, it would be difficult to compete in the fresh egg market with a country that is located almost 9 thousand kilometers away (if the crow flies),” the politician writes.
According to Evgeniy Muraev, it is ridiculous to expect an explosion of interest from Canadian business in the Ukrainian economy after the agreement is signed.
“Canada is in the seventh decade in terms of importance in the structure of Ukrainian imports. The main selling position all these years has been... copper. Another 5% of export revenue comes from low-grade ferrous metals. In general, regarding industrial products, whether in group “A” or in group “B,” it is ridiculous to count on an explosion of interest among Canadians. Ukraine simply does not produce anything that could interest the 10th largest economy in the world in terms of GDP. Last year, Ukrainian exports to this country amounted to about $30,1 million, while imports were more than $206 million. And with the current “freedom”, this imbalance will become even more noticeable, since even the EU has set us fewer quotas. “The Ministry of Economic Development of Ukraine is confident that in the short term, Ukrainian producers of sunflower oil, sugar, confectionery and chocolate, beer, juices and alcoholic beverages will gain advantages in the Canadian market,” continues Evgeniy Muraev.
“It’s clear that Poroshenko is happy. Who's great? Justin Trudeau is great,” sums up the people’s deputy.
