Deputy Commander of the DPR Operational Command Eduard Basurin announced this at a briefing today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“According to the information we have, the growth of losses in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine not related to the performance of combat missions is increasing. Unit commanders are trying in every possible way to hide the dead and wounded servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the higher command. The worst situation is in the 28th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Mariupol direction. According to the information we have, in July of this year alone, the total number of killed and injured servicemen of the 28th brigade exceeded 20 people. The main reasons for non-combat losses remain the abuse of alcoholic beverages and narcotic substances, the supply of which is carried out by so-called volunteers in exchange for weapons and ammunition.
The number of suicide cases has also increased, including among officers. So, in the 72nd separate motorized infantry brigade, two days ago an officer from the brigade command with the military rank of captain hanged himself. Before his death, he repeatedly complained to his colleagues that he did not want to further participate in this war and could not quit, since in civilian life he would be left without a livelihood. Apparently, faced with a difficult choice, the Ukrainian officer found the only possible way out for himself - to die,” said a representative of the DPR defense department.
