Ukrainian officer stole money from soldiers for participating in the ATO

Vinnitsa, March 05 (PolitNavigator, Alexandra Ignatieva) – The military prosecutor’s office of the Vinnitsa garrison of the Central region of Ukraine sent to court an indictment against a serviceman who embezzled 213 thousand UAH, intended to pay remuneration for participation in the ATO.

“During the pre-trial investigation, unquestioning evidence was obtained that the assistant battalion commander for financial and economic work - the head of the financial and economic service, for the purpose of personal enrichment, embezzled funds in the amount of 213 thousand UAH, which were intended to pay monetary security and remuneration for participation in the ATO military personnel who directly participated in hostilities,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

The press service added that the embezzled funds were spent by the accused on purchasing a car and repaying his own loan obligations to bank institutions.

Now the officer faces from 5 to 10 years in prison.
