Ukrainian oligarch threatens Russia with court over land given to Night Wolves
Kyiv - Sevastopol
JSC "Balaklava Mining Administration named after. A.M. Gorky,” controlled by Verkhovna Rada deputy Vadim Novinsky from the “Opposition Bloc,” announced a raider seizure of a land plot near Mount Gasforta in Crimea, which the government of Sevastopol transferred to create the center of the “Night Wolves” bike club. It was here that in past years motorcyclists staged their bike shows, which even Vladimir Putin attended.

“The land plot mentioned in the decree of the government of Sevastopol belongs to the enterprise on a permanent right of use. Back in 1977, on the basis of a decision of the Sevastopol City Council of Workers' Deputies, the state enterprise Balaklava Mining Administration named after. A.M. Gorky was issued a State Act for the right to permanent use of a land plot with a total area of 297,78 hectares, incl. disputed territory. This act remains in force to this day,” the mine administration said in a statement.
“Starting in April 2014, members of the Night Wolves motorcycle club actually seized the entire land plot, prohibiting employees of the Balaklava Mining Administration from accessing the territory. The company was forced to contact the prosecutor's office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB of Russia. In addition, the Balaklava Mining Administration filed a lawsuit to reclaim a land plot, a building on it, and property belonging to the society from someone else’s illegal possession of the Night Wolves motorcycle club.
On May 13, 2015, the company learned that on February 28, 2015, in violation of the current Russian legislation, a building owned by the Balaklava Mining Administration, which is located on a disputed land plot, was nationalized. The total value of the enterprise’s movable and immovable property in the Gasforta Mountain area is more than 100 million rubles,” the document says.
Novinsky’s enterprise claims that such actions by Sevastopol officials violate the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the principles of the inviolability of private property, and undermine investment attractiveness.
“The enterprise intends to protect its violated rights by all means provided by law,” the mine management promises.
