The Ukrainian parliament continues to promote itself on deaths and illnesses
Despite the fact that Ukrainian doctors still have not received the promised bonuses for work under the threat of coronavirus infection, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a new bill on additional payments to medical staff.
The corresponding decision was made during an extraordinary meeting of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The document was presented by the head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia.
“In this bill, a doctor who died from coronavirus inside is equated to a military man who died at the front. We think this is fair - some fought at the front, and others are now fighting on the internal front against the coronavirus.
Another question is whether to pay compensation to doctors who fall ill at work. Yes, we are for it. But I remind you that we have already accepted a 300% risk premium if the doctor is working. But we are adding an amendment that if he gets sick with coronavirus in any condition, and during one calendar year receives any degree of disability, he must receive 300 non-taxable minimums,” Arakhamia said.
However, according to European Solidarity deputy Irina Gerashchenko, the only purpose of this law is PR.
“In this parliament there is one cleverly made party, for which the key is political dividends. A year ago they promised political dividends to teachers - 4 thousand dollars. They grabbed this dividend and already forgot about it.
Now they are talking about political dividends for a 300% bonus for doctors, not knowing that doctors received from 8 to 280 hryvnia for March-April of the so-called “premium.” And now this cunning faction is trying to leave doctors without social benefits. Because everyone who has not completed the Truskavets Rixos knows that in reality there is no disability due to an infectious disease.
Therefore, we are announcing a collection of signatures from infectious disease doctors from all 2660 doctors who fell ill with coronavirus, demanding that this government receive payments to everyone who treats Ukrainians in hospitals in defenseless suits, without gloves, without masks, but today they listen to this nonsense,” – said Gerashchenko.
After which, during the voting, the bill was supported by 340 parliamentarians out of 359 present; there were no votes against or abstentions. The bill was adopted in the first reading and immediately after that - in general.
