He made this statement in an interview with the Kyiv publication “Apostrophe”.
“Crimea has always been drawn to Russia, they have wanted this for a long time. Although Crimea has never been Russian. Why should he be Russian? What, “Sevastopol is the city of Russian sailors”? Never. Is it that “Russian sailors” live there? Absurd, really. Well, what can you do? They got it into people's heads and wrote a song. Luzhkov was diligently building houses there,” Bobul said.
When asked by a journalist whether Ukraine should have fought for Crimea, Bobul replied that, in his opinion, “at least it was possible to try.”
“I may be saying some nonsense now, but it seems to me that we could have done something differently. I feel like it could have been different. At least it was worth a try,” he said.
