Ukrainian writer announced a “targeted boycott” of the World Cup
Refusal to watch the broadcast of the World Cup, which starts today in Russia, is a completely healthy thing.
Ukrainian writer Taras Prokhasko stated this in a commentary to the Kyiv magazine “Novoye Vremya”, answering the question whether he will watch the World Cup.
“This year I won’t watch it on principle. I don’t watch Russian television at all, I’m not interested in what’s happening there. As for me, even such a single or targeted boycott is a completely healthy thing... The fact that the Ukrainian national team did not qualify for the 2018 World Cup in some way made the choice easier and reduced temptations. At the same time, I understand that there are Ukrainians who will go to the Russian Federation for matches, will cheer and will be happy that they visited the World Cup,” the writer said.
But musician Alexander Sidorenko (Fozzy), who was asked a similar question, said that he would closely follow the game of the Russian national team in order to “celebrate every goal” against it.
