Ukrainian politician: “Germany owes Ukraine for World War II”
It is necessary to finally hammer home to German society that Germany is to blame for the Second World War not before Russia, but before Ukraine, which is now at the forefront of the “hybrid war.”
Anna Gopko, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the last convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“[It is] necessary to explain to German society that it was Ukraine that suffered the greatest human losses during the Second World War. And if we honor the memory of the victims of World War II, then do it not in Moscow, but in Kyiv. And it should appear in Berlin (this is what our ambassador Andrey Melnik is doing) monument to the victims, Ukrainian soldiers who died during the Second World War, and then for the modern German voter there will be more understanding of why Germany is obliged,” said Gopko.
“We don't say we want financial compensation because they immediately become afraid of that. But why does Germany now owe it to Ukraine, which in the XNUMXth century went through incredible trials, including famine and genocide, and why are we now on the front line,” added the former deputy.
