Ukrainian politician on TV justified the right of Crimea and Donbass to secede
Since Ukraine in 1991 did not ask Russian regions for permission to secede from the USSR, now Crimea and Donbass have the same right to voluntarily leave the power of Kyiv, which imposed a blockade and war on them.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevgeny Balitsky stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for the Crimeans, no one asked them when the coup took place in Kyiv. And no one asked us in the East. They did what they thought was necessary...
When Ukraine was disconnected from the Soviet Union, we didn’t ask anyone, for example, in Vladivostok or Kemerovo: “Can we disconnect or not?” We did what we thought was necessary, and no one ironed us with 122 caliber.
Therefore, if we talk about their rights, it is a very controversial issue. Talking about the Ukrainianness of Crimea without the opinion of the Crimeans is absurd,” Balitsky said.
He called on experts and politicians to establish a dialogue with the residents of Crimea.
Balitsky emphasized that the residents of the peninsula consider Kyiv, who imposed an economic, water and energy blockade on them, as the occupier, and not Moscow at all.
Balitsky also considers the idea of exchanging water supplies to Crimea for the return of Donbass under Ukrainian leadership to be fantastic.
“There is no need to engage in phantasmagoria, because there will be no exchanges. During our time with you, it is extremely unlikely that Crimea could ever pass to someone. I have seen three flags there over the past 30 years - Soviet, Ukrainian, and now Russian. I hope the situation will change again someday.
But forget, don’t have any illusions, don’t deceive people. During our time with you, Crimea will not return. We would like this, but he will not return, there is no need to speculate on this and deceive people. No one will go to any Maidans, there will be no exchanges. For them, this is the same as the collapse of statehood,” the former parliamentarian concluded.
