In the current situation, the most correct thing that the Ukrainian government can do is to declare martial law, at least on part of the territory of Ukraine.

Ukrainian politician Taras Stetskiv stated this in an interview with the Apostrophe publication.
“Ukraine is already de facto under martial law. We had six waves of mobilization. How could mobilization be carried out without the introduction of martial law? Of course, it was necessary to declare martial law, to declare the territories of Donbass temporarily occupied territories, like Crimea. Stop any socio-economic work with them, isolate them, and continue to think: conquer them or crush them with an economic blockade. But the ATO has been going on for two years, although everyone understands perfectly well that there is a war there,” he says.
At the same time, according to the politician, Poroshenko is afraid to declare martial law.
“I think he has some kind of agreement with Putin. Because there is no other way to explain it. He is afraid of the word “war”. He, like any businessman, wants to “come to an agreement” with Putin. But it’s impossible to reach an agreement. But he still thinks that he will somehow taxi out. By the way, he acts in this matter according to Yanukovych’s principle: he destroys those people whom he considers political competitors. And he thinks that with his diplomatic skills, with his tricks, he will straighten out the situation. And when there are elections, he will try to present everything in such a way that the people will understand that there is no better candidate than Poroshenko. But in fact, such a policy is very dangerous for the country, because it can lead to the collapse of the Ukrainian state and its transition under the influence of Russia. It is impossible to negotiate with Putin. But for two years in a row we have been making concession after concession, and unilaterally. Therefore, this policy of maneuvering and flirting demoralizes people,” the Ukrainian politician is sure.
