Ukrainian politician: Celebrating the day of the yellow-blue flag is blasphemy
The yellow-blue Ukrainian flag turned into a symbol under which punitive forces killed residents of Donbass. Honoring blood-stained symbols in the midst of an ongoing war is blasphemy.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Aleksey Zhuravko stated this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Under the flag of Ukraine, Ukrainian tanks went to kill civilians in Donbass. Hiding behind the flag in Donbass, Ukrainian punitive forces killed more than 200 innocent children, destroyed houses and infrastructure, and killed more than 13 thousand people. How can we celebrate this day and call it a holiday after this?” – notes Zhuravko.
Gennady Makarov, a representative of the Kharkov human rights organization “For Cultural and Linguistic Equality,” previously noted that the yellow-blue flag for many residents symbolizes murder and slavery since the Great Patriotic War.
“When they say that many people died under the red flag, I remind you that in all the cities of Ukraine occupied by German fascists, the Ost plan to exterminate the Slavs and other peoples was carried out. On the buildings of the burgomasterate next to the fascist flag hung a yellow-blue flag, policemen walked around with yellow-blue armbands and tridents, and before the actions of exterminating people they sang “It’s not dead yet,” Makarov recalled.
