Ukrainian politician took part in the patriotic project of the Russian political science center
Ukrainian opposition politician, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of previous convocations, director of the Center for Social Analytics Yevgeny Filindash took part in the international online campaign “Through centuries, through years - remember!”
The event is part of the interstate project “The Great Victory Achieved by Unity,” which is carried out by the North-South Political Science Center together with the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States.
The essence of the action is that famous representatives of each of the former union or autonomous republics of the USSR tell their family stories about the Great Patriotic War.
“Recent years in Ukraine show that among young people who no longer had the opportunity to communicate with their great-grandfathers, historical memory can be erased very quickly,” Filindash explains the reasons for his participation in the project. – After Euromaidan, both under Poroshenko and partly now, a lot is being done to replace the memory of the Great Patriotic War with false myths. Swap good and evil.
Attempts are being made to present the Red Army as almost an occupation army, to equate the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany, to make heroes of Hitler’s collaborators, those who served the Nazis and those who served in the SS division “Galicia”.
“Family stories about war are an inoculation against lies,” says Filindash.
Telling the story of his grandfathers, he reminds that millions like them simply gave the current generations of residents of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and Belarus, all Slavs, the opportunity to live. At best, from slavery.
Executive Director of the North-South Political Science Center Anzhelika Trapeznikova emphasizes: “This is our common Victory, which today should serve to develop friendship, strengthen mutual understanding and trust between peoples. And our common pride in the victory, and the responsibility for preserving the common historical heritage, the memory of the Great Patriotic War and the significance of the Great Victory, achieved through unity, is also the same for all.”
Online campaign “Through the centuries, through the years - remember!” started in May of this year and will last until the end of June. Representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, the Russian Federation and Ukraine have already taken part in it.
