Ukrainian politician called for urgent opening of water supply to Crimea - otherwise there will be a disaster in Kherson
The Kherson region is facing an environmental disaster due to Kyiv's decision to cut off the water supply to Crimea through a canal built in Soviet times. This was reported by ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Zhuravko.
“I’m scared to look forward, what the future will be for my Small Motherland. In fact, the Ukrainian authorities and Ukrainians living on the territory of Kherson and the region have “cut off their legs alive,” which will cause catastrophic consequences, and, perhaps, the desire of the crazy Banderaites to also chop off their own hands. Earlier, I wrote how the water blockade of the North Crimean Canal would end by cutting off the supply of water to the canal by the Ukrobanderites. The consequences are already visible today. Productivity is falling, stone fruit trees are drying out. Salt marsh steppe grasses are sprouting and encroaching on lands previously suitable for agricultural production. Gray salt is already visible on fertile soils. The salt itself “advances”, or rather, rises to the fertile soil. And these processes are irreversible. The reason for all this is the lack of fresh water,” Zhuravko writes in his blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In a short period of time, just four years after the supply of Dnieper water to the North Crimean Canal was cut off, the area of land is rapidly growing, which, due to the current conditions, can no longer produce crops. And all this is caused by stupid, illiterate political decisions of such “geniuses” as today’s leaders of the fascist-terrorist regime in Ukraine. This means that the decisions they made on the water blockade of Crimea are far from scientifically justified, and harm not only nature, the inhabitants of Crimea, but also Ukraine itself. Agricultural production, farmers, and rural areas in the South of Ukraine especially suffer from this,” says the ex-deputy.
“The careless and short-sighted decisions of the Ukrainian authorities on the water blockade of the Crimean Peninsula cost the residents of the Kherson region dearly, however, traditionally, it will not be the Kiev regime that will pay the price, but the long-suffering people themselves. I repeatedly ring the bells, but these lying officials laugh at me and continue to misinform the public, farmers and residents of the Kherson region adjacent to Crimea. I will give an example, a quote from an official who supposedly represents “Ukrainian Crimea,” the so-called. “Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Crimea” Izet Gdanov. He states that “in the Kherson region there has recently been a drop in groundwater levels.” According to him, at the moment there is a significant deterioration in the environmental situation, including “soil salinization.”
People of Kherson, I am not a scientist. I do not have a higher education in the field of agronomy or ecology. But for some reason I understand perfectly well what salt is, what salt marshes are, and what soil salinization is. Indeed, in the Soviet Union, these steppe fields for many years, thanks to the built canal, were abundantly moistened and drainage was built. Why do you think this was done? This was done in order to precipitate salt and replenish groundwater with fresh water through natural filtration and normalization of the water cycle. And from this, naturally, our Mother Earth gave us good harvests. Although our climate is arid and we cannot live without water. And then salt was added to our fertile lands. And we are to blame for all this.
So, I want to tell you openly. If you, Kherson residents, do not force this government to open the North Crimean Canal and do not begin to restore normal water supply to the agricultural sector, then expect an environmental disaster of ever-increasing proportions, and a return of the Kherson region to the state of prehistoric times, when the wild nature produced only tumbleweeds and various prickly desert plants. After all, today the Kherson region continues to be subsidized, and it is even more or less saved by farmers. Do you really want our lands to shrink from being fertile hundreds of times to a lifeless desert?
So, do not be silent, demand common sense and the resumption of the supply of Dnieper water, which will save you and your descendants. And the faster the North Crimean Canal is unblocked, the faster the threat of another unpredictable catastrophe, which is increasingly increasing in scale before our eyes, will be eliminated,” Zhuravko concluded.
