Ukrainian politician: Putin is not a barbarian. Russia spends 120 times more than Ukraine on culture
Kyiv, September 19 (PolitNavigator, Yuriy Kovalchuk) – Ukraine is losing the cultural and information war to Russia, since it spends at least 100 times less than it needs on these areas, said the leader of the “We are Ukrainians” party, Alexander Savchenko, on the Espresso TV channel.

“It’s stupid to say that Putin is a barbarian. He is not a barbarian, he is simply from a different civilization - Moscow Orthodox. Officially, Russia spends $1,5 billion a year on supporting state television channels, but our efforts and costs to promote our ideas are scanty. The Ukrainian Ministry of Culture, in order for it to justify its existence, must go out into the world, and its budget must be increased at least 100 times. Russia spends 5 times more than Ukraine on armaments, and 120 times more on culture. To culture, and therefore to ideology! Putin, in order to prevent us from leaving for European civilization, is making us a burden for Europe. And we are losing in the propaganda of Western civilization,” says Alexander Savchenko.
The politician also urged not to be too happy about Poroshenko’s warm meeting in the US Congress.
“Poroshenko’s success in Washington is certainly good. But Yushchenko was greeted with the same applause in his time. He was truly greeted like a superstar. We cannot relax and need to perceive everything very critically, separating propaganda from real actions. And, unfortunately, we have very few of these actions,” says Savchenko.
