“But you need to understand that this is important evidence of Poroshenko’s corruption. And it must be released at the right time. It makes no sense to release it now, when there is a war in the country, the actions in Avdeevka have intensified, the information field is loaded with something else. This is serious material evidence, and one should come to light at the right moment,” the deputy said in an interview with Apostrophe.
“I’m waiting for the president to personally say that I don’t have any tapes and that he didn’t do it. He must tell the press that this is all a lie. We are all waiting for the final press conference from him. Surely journalists will ask him the question: “What, were you involved in corruption?” I'm waiting for him to say he didn't do it. Remember when Bill Clinton was asked the question: “Did you sleep with Monica Lewinsky?” He said, “No.” And as soon as he said this, they immediately began to do examinations and so on. And then the impeachment procedure began. I’m waiting for Poroshenko to say that he didn’t do this,” Onishchenko added.
He said that he gave evidence to NABU regarding the president’s long-time business partner, Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Kononenko, who was involved in bribing deputies.
“I have already made a sincere admission that Poroshenko and I were involved in corruption, I am ready to go to prison with him. But no one wants to. Even my sincere confession does not provide any reason to attract Poroshenko. This is our independent Anti-Corruption Bureau and law enforcement agencies,” Onishchenko said.
