Ukrainian political scientist: Erdogan will not help in the confrontation with Russia
The hopes of some Ukrainian nationalists that Recep Erdogan will help Ukraine solve the problem of Crimea are “farm political naivety.”
Andrey Zolotarev, head of the Third Sector Center, stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent, commenting on Vladimir Zelensky’s trip to Turkey.
“We should not expect any significant consequences from this visit. It is clear that this visit will be interpreted by everyone in the context of the ongoing war in Nagorno-Karabakh. Zelensky actually tacitly supported Azerbaijan’s position.
Part of our patriotic community expects that Erdogan will help us solve the problem of Crimea, and this is rural political naivety.
It is obvious that Turkey has an interest in Ukraine. This is land, this is a fairly large market. Ukraine can hardly get anything from Turkey. I think everything will remain within the framework of the relations that have formed over recent years,” said Andrey Zolotarev.
