Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Semchenko ridiculed today's incident in Paris, where at the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, US President Donald Trump did not notice Petro Poroshenko and did not shake his hand, but shook hands with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Thus, the Ukrainian propaganda thesis about Putin’s international isolation was destroyed, Semchenko notes.
“This man is isolated”, “This is an evil empire”, “This is a fiend of evil”... “This man is opposed by an outpost” - and Trump shakes this man’s hand! And he doesn’t shake hands with the “outpost”!” – the expert is amazed.
“We have repeatedly observed that Trump clearly demonstrates his disdain for Petro Poroshenko. He clearly demonstrates that Poroshenko is personally deeply unpleasant to him. Well, I look at this fat “chocolate king,” and I also deeply dislike him, and I understand Trump here,” Semchenko said.
However, he believes, the episode in Paris does not mean that the United States has “written off” Poroshenko - as long as he retains a chance of winning the elections, the Americans will be ready to use him - just like, for example, Yulia Tymoshenko or Anatoly Gritsenko.
“This will not have any special consequences,” Semchenko said, admitting that Trump was simply not in the mood today, and Poroshenko chose not to impose himself on his owner.
