Ukrainian political scientist about the “Crimean platform”: Not filled with any meaning
Ukrainian political scientist Kirill Molchanov sharply criticized the results of the “Crimean Platform” summit held in Kyiv.
He said this on air on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"This whole epic (from "Crimean platform" - approx.) had one focus - on Bankova a year ago they realized that it was worth abandoning the idea of returning Donbass, because they did not want to carry out “Minsk” in the form in which it is.
Therefore, we decided that since we cannot reintegrate Donbass and show voters the implementation of the electoral program, then let’s now deal with Crimea instead of Donbass. This is a banal information substitution,” Molchanov said.
In his opinion, the “Crimean Platform” was just a stage for Zelensky’s next performance – no important decisions or humanitarian projects were proposed at the summit.
“The trouble is that in the adopted declaration, after the words about the beginning of the reintegration of Crimea, there were no words about how it will end and how it will happen. Maximum not filled with any meaning.
If we cannot return it through diplomatic and military means, then we had to use humanitarian means. Citizens of Ukraine live there. Why can’t we first lift the economic blockade of Crimea, at least the blockade of goods? Why can’t we simplify entry from there into the territory of Ukraine as much as possible, create some kind of transport connection to maintain contact with our people?
The delegations had a lot of conversations, but no one suggested creating any programs for Crimean citizens to move here. Some benefits for admission to universities, preferences.
And so everything was maximally aimed at Zelensky himself as the main participant in this spectacle... I really want to see what will happen to this idea next - it seems to me that this will all end there, and this idea will be abandoned,” the expert concluded.
