Ukrainian political scientist on the death of impeachment initiator Poroshenko: I think it’s murder
The death in a car accident of deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council Boris Panchenko, who two days before his death initiated a vote on the impeachment of Petro Poroshenko, is similar to murder.
Ukrainian political scientist Oleg Soskin, director of the Institute for Transformation of Society, told PolitNavigator about this.

“This has happened often in this country. Both during the time of Kuchma and during the time of Yushchenko, this was one of the most common methods of exterminating various oppositionists. Under Kuchma, Chernovol was destroyed in this way; his car crashed into a grain truck at night, which was turning around; its driver later also died. All of a sudden. Where it came from, why it unfolded, remained unclear. Everyone understands that he was killed; there were many such cases under Kuchma...
Under Yushchenko, this happened to Mikhail Sirota; he also crashed in his car. One can cite dozens of cases of the destruction of opposition leaders.
Poroshenko is no better. I think it's murder. Now what was not completed under Yanukovych and Azarov is being completed – the state of a stationary bandit. This also includes the arrest of Guzhva; this is completely unprecedented.
If a person cannot be charged with corruption, he is simply given an accident. Today it is a mechanism for dealing with political opponents. This happened under Kuchma, and under Yushchenko, and under Yanukovych, and it continues now. I think that’s what the same people are doing,” says Soskin.
Earlier, well-known Kiev lawyer Tatyana Montyan confirmed information that Panchenko’s death could have been Petro Poroshenko’s revenge for the Kyiv Regional Council’s vote to impeach the president.
On the eve of the strange circumstances of Panchenko’s death Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Lazarev also drew attention.
As PolitNavigator reported, deputies of the Kyiv Regional Council appealed to the Verkhovna Rada with a proposal to regulate the procedure for removing the President of Ukraine through impeachment.
In addition, previously the Kiev Regional Council and a number of other regional councils voted for the appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers with a demand to conclude an agreement on the division of powers with the central authorities.
