Ukrainian political scientist about the Volker-Surkov meeting: Russia is “kicking” the United States on all fronts
Negotiations on Ukraine between Russian Presidential Aide Vladislav Surkov and US State Department Special Representative Kurt Volcker, as a result of which Moscow rejected most of the American initiatives, can be considered successful for the Russian side.

“Russia as a whole is pursuing a fairly tough policy, and this applies not only to the situation in Donbass. She seriously “kicks” the Americans on all fronts. This is manifested not only in the meeting between Surkov and Volker, but also between Trump and Putin, which did not take place in the format that Trump expected - because Russia did not agree to it. But without Russia, the Americans cannot resolve their issues - neither in Syria, nor in Ukraine, nor in North Korea.
I hope that such a clear position will lead to real peace, and not to the ersatz peace that would have been established in Donbass if the American and Poroshenko version of conflict resolution had been implemented.

Russia has and will continue to take a tough position. The United States and Kyiv have two options - either concede or continue to fight. I hope that they will still give in,” concluded Semchenko.
