US Secretary of Defense James Mattis expressed condolences in connection with shooting by a student and teachers at a college in Kerch Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, which indirectly means America recognizes Crimea as Russian.

This opinion was expressed on the NewsOne TV channel by political scientist Kost Bondarenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I understand perfectly well that today the question of the ownership of Crimea - de jure the world recognizes that Crimea is Ukrainian, de facto even Mattis, the US Secretary of Defense, at a meeting in Singapore expressed condolences to Russian Defense Minister Shoigu in connection with the events in Kerch.” , - said the political expert.

In his opinion, this can be considered a partial recognition of the current status quo by the United States.

“Such a gesture shows that somewhere there is a subconscious understanding of the status quo that has developed today,” he added.
