Ukrainian political scientist: Putin is right. This is a direct military threat
Statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who warned the West about the possible consequences if Ukraine and Georgia are admitted to NATO, due to the interests of Russian national security.
Political scientist Alexander Semchenko stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
He recalled that Putin expressed his position on NATO immediately after his meeting with the US President.
“He spoke there about the radar and missile defense systems that have advanced to the Russian borders in Poland and Romania. This is even if we take into account that the Americans withdrew from the ABM ban treaty. This upsets the balance of power and poses a threat to Russia. And here, in Ukraine, NATO missiles can be brought literally to the border with Russia. How far is it from Chernigov to Moscow? 400 or 500 km. This is a direct military threat. Therefore, Putin is right,” the expert said.
“In addition, it was stated in 90, when Germany was unified, that NATO would not go beyond the eastern borders of Germany,” Semchenko recalled.
