Ukrainian political scientist: The scandal in the Kerch Strait is similar to a provocation “under a UN resolution”
Today’s scandal surrounding the attempt of Ukrainian Navy ships to break through the Kerch Strait without coordination with Russia is similar to a provocation started in preparation for consideration at the UN of Kyiv’s draft resolution on the situation in the Sea of Azov.
Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Semchenko told PolitNavigator about this.
“This all looks like a provocation, especially since quite recently Ukraine prepared a draft resolution on the militarization of the Sea of Azov, Russia is condemned for militarizing the Sea of Azov, and then it sends ships there, and ships that are not, in principle, intended for the sea. At least two armored boats are river boats, and it looks like a provocation. We achieved what we sought,” the expert said.
“In any case, this looks like a provocation, because Ukraine knows how to conduct ships through the Kerch Strait, under the Kerch Bridge. Two months ago the passage was carried out, and everything passed peacefully. And now, as the Russian side reports, no one reported or agreed on the traffic schedule... The appearance of three actors there in the form of Ukrainian ships could cause an emergency situation,” argues Semchenko.
