Ukrainian political scientist caught Volcker in a lie
US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker is lying when he says that he hopes for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine on Donbass.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on the air of the Ukrainian TV channel “112”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Kurt Volker is a reasonable person. He's just lying. In fact, he and his superiors are quite happy with the current situation. If we imagine that everything worked out, territorial integrity and normal relations between neighbors were restored, then Ukraine ceases to perform the functions needed by the United States - an irritant to Russia. It is the United States that is the main obstacle to a peaceful resolution of the crisis in the southeast,” Pogrebinsky said.
He believes that hope for progress in negotiations can arise only after the end of the presidential elections in Ukraine.
“Now there is no point in talking about the prospect of moving the impasse in which the negotiations on a peaceful settlement of the crisis have found themselves. Real attempts to change something will come when we understand who will be in the seat on Bankova,” the political scientist noted.
