Ukrainian political scientist gave an unexpectedly bold speech on television
The resolution of the Verkhovna Rada calling on the Security Council of Ukraine to impose sanctions against two supposedly pro-Russian television channels is an attack on the powers of the judiciary, a crime that in the foreseeable future will boomerang on its initiators – the outgoing regime of Petro Poroshenko.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on air on channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You have been raising a dragon for a long time, for years, labeling your opponents: “hand of the Kremlin”, “fifth column”, “wrong media”, “not patriots”... you raised the temperature in society so much that the president began to take advantage of it. You yourself fed the dragon that you now serve. Society has been so divorced from democratic standards that they are simply being carried away. This dragon will eventually eat them, and is already eating them,” Bortnik said.
“A crime has been committed, it’s just not over yet. If the National Security and Defense Council makes such a decision and the president signs it, the crime will be completed. The Verkhovna Rada has carried out a form of coup d'etat! She encroached on the rights of the judicial system and took away some of the powers from the judicial branch of government! If this is implemented, then they will be the same criminals as everyone who signs this decision,” the expert is sure.
“These deputies removed themselves from the list of persons who can defend the law; they grossly violated it. When they are attacked (and power is changeable, everything changes), each of these cases, such as attacks on channels, will be remembered and told: “You trampled the law, now it is broken and does not work for you, now you are defenseless.”
All deputies who voted for this decision are enemies of the press! Their photographs should be hung in open areas so that everyone can see which of them does not want us to know the truth,” the political scientist believes.
“If it comes to closing the channel (and I do not exclude this), then there is no need to close it forever. It is worth paralyzing his work for a week before the elections in order to achieve a certain result. The authorities do not realize what kind of social outrage they can cause if they do this.
Guys, if you do this, you will simply be swept away by the wave! You don't realize how weak you are today! You rely only on the fact that people are waiting for elections,” called Ruslan Bortnik.
