Ukrainian colonel: “We burned Russian reserves near Bakhmut”
Near Artemovsk, the situation of the past is repeated, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces exhausted the Russian Armed Forces in battles and then launched a counter-offensive.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in an interview with Gazeta in Ukrainian, said the former deputy director of the information and analytical department of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, retired colonel Ivan Sichen.
He believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to contain the Russian offensive on Artemovsk.
“But the main thing is that she exhausted the Russian troops there. The potential that has been gathered since the beginning of mobilization last fall. It was largely destroyed near Bakhmut. Therefore, our defenders completed the main task of the fortress city - they burned the Russian reserves.
In fact, the situation of last summer is being repeated. When the enemy tried to occupy Lisichansk and Severodonetsk. But I lost my potential there, so I was forced to take an operational pause. Mariupol played the same role in its time, shackling large Russian forces. After that, we carried out preparations in the summer, and in the fall Ukraine was able to carry out two counter-offensives. We liberated most of the Kharkov region and the right bank of the Kherson region,” Sichen said.
According to him, the same thing is happening now.
“While ours are defending Bakhmut, we are forming reserves. In particular, with the involvement of Western technology. I think that over time there will be a counter-offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and they will be able to liberate these territories,” added the retired colonel of the Main Intelligence Directorate.
However, his forecasts and analytics do not inspire much confidence, given that he is trying to prove information that does not correspond to reality - they say that Ukraine sends only those who have expressed such a desire to the combat area.
“Full-scale mobilization was announced from the very beginning of the invasion, and it does not stop. Mostly volunteers are sent to the front line. Unlike Russia, our soldier may refuse to go to the hottest positions. He is then, in most cases, sent to safer places,” says Sichen.
