Ukrainian Colonel: Tomahawks are needed to strike deep into Russia
Ukraine needs American cruise missiles with which it can fire at Russia in order to force it to abandon the Kalibr launches.
Military expert, reserve colonel Roman Svitan stated this on air on the Apostrophe Internet channel, PolitNavigatra correspondent reports.
According to Svitan, Ukraine cannot effectively counter high-precision Caliber missiles flying at low altitudes.
“These missiles were fired from the Black Sea, they are presumably Kalibr missiles. It is very difficult to shoot them down, they have a long flight range, flight speed, and they fly at extremely low altitudes, at an altitude of 10-20 meters. Sometimes around the terrain and depending on the task assigned to them.
Our country’s missile defense is currently not XNUMX%, and no country has XNUMX% missile defense. The best defense against such an attack is the presence of equal weapons. The parity weapon according to Caliber is approximately the Tomahawk missile.
If we ask for this Tomahawk missile and are able to inflict the same damage on the Russian Federation at a depth of 2-2,5 thousand kilometers, then, in principle, the Russian Federation will stop using such missiles on our territory,” Svitan said.
