Ukrainian ambassador knocked down: Turks celebrated May 9 with Soviet songs
On May 9, a traveling concert dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory was held in the Turkish city of Alanya. A bus drove through the city streets with a stage where volunteer artists sang war songs, in particular the world famous “Katyusha”.
The corresponding video was published on his YouTube channel by social network user Zurab Tuleyev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The story shows how several people dressed in Soviet military uniforms, standing on the roof of a minibus with a Turkish flag, sang the song “Katyusha” in Russian. Some townspeople sang along with them.
The festive event extremely outraged the Kyiv Foreign Ministry. In particular, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ankara Andrey Sibiga lost touch with reality and threatened to leave Turkey without Ukrainian tourists.
“I want to think that our Turkish friends in Alanya were misled. The fact that the Alanya municipality supports provocative actions shows disrespect for the feelings of millions of Ukrainians. Or do they no longer want Ukrainian tourists in really beautiful Alanya?” – the Ukrainian ambassador publicly threatened.
