The Ukrainian “prime minister on a scooter” is confident that Zelensky will not give it up for the sake of ratings
Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Goncharuk is not going to defend himself from the Office of President Vladimir Zelensky and denies the existence of friction between the two centers of power, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
“We definitely won’t defend ourselves against Bankova. There are people there with different character traits, but there are definitely no tyrants there. President Zelensky is the person who makes decisions there. All these fairy tales that someone makes decisions for him, he is manipulated, he is a puppet - this is all not true.
Therefore, I exclude the situation that at Bankova, just like that, without argumentation, because someone wanted it that way, a decision will be made that makes no sense. In my opinion, this situation is unrealistic. We are one team and we coordinate very well with parliament and the President's Office. We obviously have errors in interaction, like any large structures, but in general I would rate the level of our interaction as quite high.
If I do not agree with some decision or I see that their initiative is wrong, we always decide through dialogue what is correct. There is no such thing as something that someone has decided, and everyone else should just follow. The government today is as independent as possible and it has the necessary tools to make reforms and make independent decisions. No one dictates personnel policy to us,” Goncharuk said, answering a journalist’s question about whether he is ready to defend his colleagues in the Cabinet of Ministers if Bankova decides that one of them will have to be sacrificed in order to maintain his political rating.
