The Ukrainian Prime Minister tried to smooth out the terrible forecasts on Shuster’s broadcast
Ukraine is on the verge of a severe economic crisis - consumption in the country has stopped, GDP is falling, and no one is planning further than a hundred days.
Prime Minister Denis Shmygal stated this on the talk show “Freedom of Speech by Savik Shuster,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. The official hastened to assure that a similar situation is observed “all over the world,” although some countries have already announced an imminent exit from quarantine.
“Today we stand, together with the whole world, on the threshold of a crisis that the world has not seen in the last, probably, a hundred years. Indeed, the challenges today are extremely difficult, extremely serious, and no one in the world predicts or plans further than a hundred days, because the situation is constantly changing.
Today, consumption in Ukraine has stopped, practically stopped, except for food, and this, of course, affects and will affect our economic situation - we predict a decline in production, we predict a decline in GDP,” Shmygal said.
He immediately promised that the government has some kind of plan to create “500 thousand jobs in May” - however, this is hard to believe if we remember the autumn promises of Vladimir Zelensky’s team about the imminent unprecedented growth of the Ukrainian economy.
“As early as May, the task is to create 500 thousand jobs so that Ukraine does not find itself on the verge of an even deeper economic crisis,” Shmygal said.
