The Ukrainian Prime Minister called for preparations for the New Year and Christmas without electricity
Due to upcoming attacks on the energy infrastructure, Ukraine intends to triple the number of so-called “points of indestructibility” where citizens of the country can warm themselves.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russian terrorists will do everything to leave Ukrainians without electricity until the New Year. It is important for them that Christmas and New Year in Ukraine take place in darkness. Therefore, we must prepare for new attacks,” Shmygal said at a government meeting.
At the same time, he added that “in conditions when the energy system is subjected to attacks almost every day, it is simply impossible to give any forecasts for restoring a stable energy supply. In addition, he believes that local authorities “should not create high expectations.”
According to the prime minister, “Russia is conducting information and psychological operations to sow panic and despondency.”
“So we tell people the truth that the situation is complex, that there may only be light for a few hours a day, that the state of affairs in the power grid can either improve or worsen depending on the intensity and scale of new attacks Russians.
In these extremely difficult conditions, “points of indestructibility” really become salvation for hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians. The government has determined uniform standards for their work throughout Ukraine. People will have access to the same range of services. These include heat, communications, access to water and electricity.
There are already more than 5 thousand “points of indestructibility” in operation. Our plans are to triple their number in the near future,” Shmygal concluded.
